CHATTANOOGA, TN. — Amherst's
Andreas Sillaste won a dramatic NCAA quarterfinal on Sunday at Champions Club and McCallie defeating Carnegie Mellon's Alex Feies 7–5, 3–6, 6–4 to reach the semifinals. The match started outdoors after a delayed beginning, then moved indoors because of rain as Sillaste survived a tense finish to advance.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
Sillaste trailed 3–1 in the first set before a 10-minute rain delay interrupted play. After the break, he broke back at 3–2 and again at 6–5 to steal the set 7–5.Feies responded by jumping out to a 4–0 lead in the second set, and although Sillaste fought back to 4–2, Feies held on to take the set 6–3.
In the third, Feies led 3–0 before the match moved indoors. Sillaste then won five straight games to go up 5–3 and even held four match points at 40–0 in that game, but Feies made him serve it out at 5–4 before Sillaste finally closed the match 6–4.

Sillaste advances to the semifinal round, where he will face Michael Melnikov of Swarthmore on Monday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at Champions Club in Chattanooga.
