CAMBRIDGE, MA. – On Friday, the Amherst College men's tennis team began its fall campaign at the MIT Invitational, collecting six singles victories against Colby College and taking two of the three doubles contests against host MIT. The Mammoths received strong performances throughout the lineup, highlighted by decisive straight-set wins from
Jack Reis and
Alex Brzov, as well as hard-fought three-set victories from
Ethan Ohm and
Andy Lee.
Amherst won six of its seven singles matches against Colby and claimed two of three doubles matches against MIT, showing depth across both the singles and doubles lineups.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Alex Brzov posted the most dominant singles result of the day, surrendering just one game in a 6–1, 6–0 victory.
- Jack Reis earned a convincing straight-set win, taking down his Colby opponent 6–0, 6–3.
- Rex Harrison overcame a competitive opening set before pulling away for a 7–5, 6–1 victory.
- Ethan Ohm rallied after splitting the first two sets, prevailing 6–3, 4–6, 10–7 in a match tiebreak.
- In doubles action, Brzov and Harrison earned an 8–5 win, while Lee and Reis captured a tight 8–7 (5) decision.
