MIDDLEBURY, VT. – Amherst College men's tennis has a doubles team in the semifinals after the first two days of the ITA New England Regional Championships, hosted by Middlebury College. The top-seeded pair of Andreas Sillaste and Lukas Frangenberg won all three of its matches to reach Sunday's semifinals.

Ronald Gualario reached the B singles quarterfinals. Rex Harrison upset No. 6 seed Thehan Wijemanne of Middlebury on his way to the round of 16 in A singles. Harrison also teamed with Alex Brzov to reach the doubles quarterfinals.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Top seeds roll into the semis. Sillaste and Frangenberg outlasted Brandeis' Oliver Lorenz and Benjamin Kotzen, 8-7 (7-1), in their opener. They then beat Babson's Sebastian Mendoza and Andre Ziskind, 8-2, and No. 8 seed Simon Catanzaro and Cameron Zia of Bowdoin, 8-3.
• Harrison topples a seed. After a 6-0, 6-3 win over Colby's Rhys Spano, Harrison dropped the first set against Wijemanne. He then won 2-6, 6-1, [10-3].
• Gualario wins three straight. Gualario beat Bowdoin's Drew Gilbert, 8-3, and Colby's Owen Lauw, 8-2. He then took out No. 5-8 seed Andy Yim of Middlebury, 6-4, 7-6 (2). His run ended in the quarterfinals against top seed Jackson Rich of Tufts.
• Harrison and Brzov knock off a seed. The 9-16 seeded pair beat Clark's Aris Kirkorian and Edward Shepherd-Johnson, 8-2, and No. 5 seed Jackson Codd and Christian Stubbeman of Bowdoin, 8-3. They fell to Tufts' Pratt Yerger and Matej Djokic in a tiebreak in the quarterfinals
• Sillaste cruises early. The top seed in A singles won his first two matches by identical 6-0, 6-2 scores before falling to Bowdoin's Cameron Zia in the round of 16.
