AMHERST, Mass. – The fourth-ranked Amherst College women's basketball team cruised to a commanding 83-23 win over Farmingdale State College Sunday afternoon in LeFrak Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Amherst's stingy defense held the Rams to a mere 13.5% (7-52) shooting from the floor, and 12.5% (2-16) mark from downtown, while the Purple & White shot 47.9% (35-73) and 36.0% (9-25), respectively.
• Ali Doswell '17 led all scorers with 15 points in just 15 minutes, as she finished 5-of-8 from beyond-the-arc. Jenna Schumacher '18 and Meghan Sullivan '19 were strong contributors off the bench, as Schumacher finished with 12 points and Sullivan scored 11. Marley Giddins '16 went a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor to total eight points, and is now 10-for-11 in two games this season. She also led the team in rebounding (8), along with Schumacher, and blocks (3). Hannah Hackley '18 dished out a game-high four assists.
• Farmingdale State was led by Tyra Harrison who recorded 12 points, while Meghan Cleary added seven. Aries Adams pulled in a team-high five rebounds.

FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS

• For the second day in a row, Amherst opened the game hot and jumped out to a 14-0 lead within the first 6:18 of play, and never looked back.  
• Sullivan capped off the first quarter with a three-pointer to give Amherst a 23-4 advantage after 10 minutes of action.
• The second quarter was a similar story as the home team outscored Farmingdale State, 28-7. Cheyenne Pritchard '16 scored all eight of her points in the quarter.
• Haley Zwecker '16 made back-to-back layups to close out the half as Amherst led 51-11 at the break.

SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS

• Amherst opened the third quarter on an 18-0 run and held the Rams scoreless until a three-pointer from Harrison at the 0:53 mark.
• Schumacher scored 10 of Amherst's 14 points in the fourth quarter, while also grabbing six rebounds.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• With the win, Amherst has now won 112 consecutive games at LeFrak Gymnasium.
• Schumacher recorded career-highs in both points and rebounds.

UP NEXT

• Amherst is back in action Tuesday, Nov. 24 and will host Little Three rival Wesleyan in a non-conference matchup beginning at 6 p.m.
• Farmingdale State returns home Wednesday, Dec. 2 and will play Yeshiva. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
