MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

  • In a back-and-forth first period of action, Amherst netted the game's first goal through Greg Singer '16 who scored on a penalty kick in the 27th minute of play to give the Purple & White a 1-0 lead. The goal was Singer's sixth of the season, and first spot kick of the 2015 campaign.
  • Four minutes later, Mark Perreault answered with a shot from 30 yards out, but the attempt sailed over the crossbar keeping the score at 1-0 in favor of the visitors.
  • Trinity edged Amherst in shots in the opening 45 minutes, 6-4, and the sides shared four shots on goal equally at two apiece. Singer led the Purple & White with two shots on frame, while Alex Bednarek placed two shots on target for the Bantams.
  • In the second half, Trinity equalized in the 62nd minute when Tobias Gimand scored following assists from Perreault and Sam Milbury.
  • The Purple & White had an opportunity to regain the lead late in regulation as Christopher Martin's '17 shot struck the post in the 86th minute. The Bantams also had a pair of chances in the final ten minutes through Gimand and Cody Savonen, but their attempts were halted by Amherst goalkeeper Thomas Bull '16.
  • In the first period of overtime, Bryce Ciambella '17 saw the first look at a winner, but his offering went high in the 91st minute.
  • Following a Bantam's scoring opportunity by Perreault whose shot went just high, Amherst applied pressure late in the extra session. With time winding down in the frame, Jackson Lehnhart '17 tested the keeper before Martin broke into the left side of the box and in on goal, but his shot could not beat Domenic Quade who came away with a pair of critical saves to keep the game level at 1-1 and forcing a second frame of overtime.
  • In the second overtime, Andrew Orozco '17 blasted a pair of shots wide before Singer found himself in the box with a great look at the winner, but a diving save by Quade kept the game knotted at 1-1 in the 107th minute of play.
  • The Purple & White had a pair of corner kicks in the final minute of the second overtime, but neither was able to come to fruition as the game finished in a tie.
  • Amherst outshot Trinity, 20-13 in the contest, including a 10-6 differential in shots on goal. The Purple & White also held a 12-5 advantage in corner kicks during the game.
