Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Three Jeffs scored in double-figures as the second-ranked Amherst College women's basketball team cruised to a 71-46 non-conference road win Saturday afternoon against Bridgewater State.
The Purple & White remain perfect on the year and are 6-0 overall as they snapped the Bears four-game winning streak. With the loss, Bridgewater State drops to 5-2.

It was all Amherst early and often in Saturday's matchup as the Jeffs jumped out to a 15-5 lead just 3:37 into the game. A three-pointer by Peterson minutes later put the visitor's ahead by 15 before a 6-0 Bridgewater State run cut the deficit to nine with 10:41 remaining before the break. It was the last single-digit margin of the first half, however, as Amherst held a 41-28 lead at halftime.
The second half was the same story as Renner hit one from behind-the-arc on the Jeffs first possession. Seconds later, she forced a turnover and Peterson scored to increase the lead to 18.
Rachel Kusz forced a turnover at the 16:04 mark and scored to cut the deficit to 13, but it would be the lowest margin in the final 20 minutes of regulation as Amherst cruised to the decisive 71-46 win.
The Jeffs shot 27-of-56 (48.2%) from the floor and 14-of-35 (40.0%) from downtown, while holding Bridgewater State to 18-of-47 (38.3%) shooting and just 1-of-5 (20.0%) from behind-the-arc. Amherst also held a 37-to-24 advantage in rebounding and forced 21 turnovers.
The Purple & White return to action Wednesday, Dec. 10 and will host Rhode Island College at LeFrak Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
