FORT MYERS, FL – The Amherst College softball team moved to 5-3 at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic, earning a 3-1 win over Worcester State before falling to North Park in five innings, 9-0. The Lord Jeffs will wrap up their spring trip against Edgewood and St. Joseph's of Maine on Friday. 

Theresa Kelley '13 (Los Angeles, CA) picked up the win against Worcester State by allowing only one earned run on three hits, striking out 11 batters and walking one. Amherst managed only three hits on offense, as Kelley's dominance on the mound was the difference maker. 

The Lord Jeffs got two runs in the third inning when Kelley walked and Kaitlin Silkowitz '14 (Scarsdale, NY) reached on an error, allowing Reilly Horan '13 (Darien, CT) to pick up two RBIs with a double. Jill Masi '11 (Stamford, CT) drove in Amherst's third run with a single that scored Christina Anderson '13 (Port St. Lucie, FL) in the seventh. 

Amherst scattered six hits against North Park but could not build any momentum at the plate. The Jeffs surrendered a three-run homer in the first and gave up another three runs in the second, as North Park scored against three Lord Jeff pitchers and cruised to a five-inning win.
