FORT MYERS, FL - The Amherst College softball team suffered shutout losses to Fitchburg State College, 4-0, and Worcester State College, 9-0, in Fort Myers, Florida on Thursday. The Jeffs drop to 4-3 as sophomore hurler Miya Warner (Berkeley, CA) sustained her first loss of the season despite striking out seven against Fitchburg.
The Jeffs could not muster much offense in either game, earning just three hits against Fitchburg and four versus Worcester. Sophomore outfielder Rachel Hoerger (Oakland, CA) went 2-for-3 in the first game with a pair of singles, and first-year Annalise Rodli (La Canada, CA) had a single as well.
First-year pitcher Hilary Little (Kentfield, CA) took the loss against Worcester, throwing her third complete game of the year. Warner, senior Gina Scribner (Star, ID), sophomore Laura Trigeiro (Reston, VA) and first-year Caroline Polales (Winnetka, IL) each had a hit in the game.
Amherst returns to action Friday, facing SUNY Brockport at 9 a.m. and Mt. St. Joseph at 11 a.m.
