AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College softball team ended its season at 12-15 overall, dropping both games of a doubleheader to visiting non-league foe Springfield College, 7-1 and 7-1. It marked the final games for Jeff senior co-captains Missy Mordy (Sammamish, WA) and Emily Melia (Hingham, MA), and senior right fielder Tamara Baer (Amherst, NY).
In Game 1, Pride sophomore Brianne Pearson (Brockton, MA) pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on two hits to improve to 19-5 overall. Senior infielder Alisson Gerrish (Plymouth, MA) led the Springfield charge, going 2-for-4 with three RBI's - a pair coming by way of a two-run homer over the left field wall in the first inning. Rookie catcher Kate Raddock (Stamford, CT) smacked a home run in the second inning for the Jeffs' lone run.
In Game 2, Gerrish led the way once again, batting 4-or-5 with a pair of runs scored. Pride sophomore catcher Missy Edwards (Calverton, NY) went 2-for-5 with three RBI's. Springfield sophomore pitcher Amy Brucker (Westerly, RI) pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and one unearned run. Jeff rookie pitcher Miya Warner (Berkeley, CA) pitched both games for Amherst, inclding a 12-strikeout performance in the opener, and dropped to 12-12.
With the pair of victories, the Pride improved to 30-10 overall.
