AMHERST, MA - Brandeis University cranked out 14 hits and three home runs en route to a 9-1 non-league softball win at Amherst College on Friday. Junior center fielder Sara Albert (Longmeadow, MA) homered twice for the Judges, now 9-4, while junior first baseman Jamie Kidd (Hampton Falls, NH) keyed a five-run fifth inning with her first round tripper of the season. The game was called after the sixth inning due to the NCAA eight-run rule.
with two strikeouts and no walks. Amherst senior co-captain Emily Melia (Hingham, MA) pitched five innings but took the loss to fall to 0-3.
Amherst first-years Kate Raddock (Stamford, CT) and Laura Trigeiro (Reston, VA) each went 2-for-3 in defeat. Raddock drove in the lone Amherst run with a third inning RBI double.
Now 5-6 overall, Amherst opens NESCAC West Division play Saturday at 1 p.m. against visiting Hamilton College.
