MIDDLETOWN, CT – Senior co-captain Lauren Peloquin (Berkley, MA) picked up a complete-game win in the opener, posted a save in the nightcap, and finished with two hits in each game to lead the Amherst College softball team to a 4-3 and 7-4 doubleheader sweep at NESCAC West Division rival Wesleyan University on Saturday.
Peloquin improved her pitching record to 10-3 and slashed a pair of doubles in game-one, while sophomore first baseman Gina Scribner (Star, ID) went 3-for-4 and junior Emily Melia (Hingham, MA) added a pair of singles.
The Jeffs then pounded out 12 hits in the nightcap, including another two by Peloquin and three by Melia. Junior shortstop Missy Mordy (Sammamish, WA) added a double and a single as Amherst improved to 11-6 overall and remained undefeated in the NESCAC with a perfect 4-0 West Division mark. Melia claimed her first pitching win of the season, upping her record to 1-2.
Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting non-league foe Mt. Holyoke College.
