AMHERST, MA – Despite an 11-striketout, complete-game pitching performance by senior hurler Lauren Peloquin (Berkley, MA) and a pair of hits by junior shortstop Missy Mordy (Sammamish, WA), the Amherst College softball team fell at non-league foe Brandeis University, 7-1, on Friday. 

Brandeis starter Erin Powers (4-4) limited the Jeffs to just five hits en route to the victory, while the host Judges benefited from a pair of two-run home runs by Melissa Leber. Peloquin, who fell to 9-4 with the loss, and juniors Emily Melia (Hingham, MA) and Erin Dittus (Brentwood, TN) rounded out the offense for Amherst with a base hit each. 

Now 9-6 on the season, the Jeffs return to action on Saturday for a NESCAC West Division doubleheader at Wesleyan University, starting at 1 p.m.
