FROM A KEENE ST. COLLEGE RELEASE
KEENE, NH – Kaitlyn Henley (Somers, NY) notched a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead host Keene State College to a 4-1 non-conference field hockey victory over Amherst on Thursday night. Keene State improves to 8-5 while Amherst College falls to 3-6.
After junior Christine Ryan (Summit, NJ) scored to give Amherst an early 1-0 advantage, the Owls erupted for three goals in a span of six minutes to take control of the game. Henley scored on a rebound off a corner to tie the game, and Annie Timson (Derry, NH) put the Owls on top 2-1 just over a minute later with a shot from the right side of the net. Henley completed the uprising with her second tally of the game and sixth goal of the season to give KSC a 3-1 halftime advantage.
Executing their corners throughout, the Owls added a goal in the second half when Suzanne Kohler (Southbury, CT) converted a pass from Nichole Dallas (Marlow, NH).
Amy Carroll (Brunswick, ME), with late help from Michelle Codding (Jerico, VT), were in goal for KSC. First-year Anne McMullin (St. Louis, MO) and sophomore K.C. Cosentino (Greenwich, CT) each played a half in goal for the Jeffs.
