Peloquin Wins Two More Versus Smith

Freshman pitcher records her 13th and14th wins with 14K's in the first and a 1-hitter in the second

 

 

GAME 1:
Amherst 1, Smith 0
With one out in the top of the fourth, junior Liza Feldman singled to left field and advanced to second on an error by the left fielder and then to third on an error by the shortstop. Darcy Sweeney's single to right field scored Feldman for the only run of the game. Sweeney had two hits for the game and the team had a total of 6. Freshman pitcher sensation Lauren Peloquin struck out 14 Smith batters while allowing only 3 hits.
 
GAME 2:
Amherst 10, Smith 2
Amherst scored 6 runs in the top of the first off of Smith pitcher Bonnie Benson. The Jeffs compiled six hits in the inning (Roja, Gonzalez, Sweeney, Nelson, Sielicki, and Sakamoto). Sweeney, Nelson and Sakamoto had two RBI's each in the first inning alone. For the game, Sweeney recorded two hits, Nelson pounded out three, while sophomore Jen Sielicki was a perfect 4-4. Peloquin was dominant once again, allowing only one hit (a double in the bottom of the fifth) while shutting down the Pioneers with 7 strike-outs to only two walks.
