MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Amherst College men's cross country finished third at the Little Three
Championship on Friday at Long Lane Farm, coming up just short of the team title as Wesleyan
and Williams battled to a dead heat atop the standings.

Both Wesleyan and Williams scored 39 points to share the Little Three crown, with the
Cardinals earning the tiebreaker over the Ephs on the strength of a faster sixth runner. Amherst
finished just five points back with 44, and all three teams were separated by only 10 seconds in
cumulative team time across their scoring five on the 6k course.

Senior Harrison Dow led the way for the Mammoths, taking third overall in 18:26.0. Sophomore
Carter Bengtson wasn't far behind, crossing in fourth place at 18:29.8, giving Amherst two
runners inside the top four. The individual race went to Wesleyan junior Dylan Cote, who won in
18:16.8, with Williams junior Eli Welch taking the runner-up spot in 18:23.7.

First-year Jonah Schulman rounded into Amherst's third scorer, placing 10th in 18:51.5 to
continue a strong start to his collegiate career. The Mammoths' scoring five was completed by a
tightly packed group: senior Parker Boyle (13th, 18:55.2), junior Ben Kasen (14th, 18:55.4),
senior Stan Craig (15th, 18:56.9), and sophomore Caleb Barnes (16th, 18:58.4), all finishing
within three seconds of one another.

That kind of pack running kept Amherst competitive with its rivals, even if it wasn't quite enough to overtake Wesleyan or Williams in the final standings.

Further down the order, first-year Michael Rynne (27th, 19:15.3), first-year Ryan Monohan (29th, 19:19.0), and sophomore Tim Churchill (30th, 19:23.2) provided additional depth for the Mammoths as the meet wrapped up.

Amherst will look to regroup and build on this performance as the season progresses.
