AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College women's field hockey team fell to Middlebury College, 3-0, this Saturday on Hill Field.
The Mammoths, having completed their fifth game of the season, now hold a 3-2 record. Next up for the Mammoths is an away game against MIT next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* The game got off to a slow start with a scoreless first and second quarter. On the defensive side, goalie
Grace Puchalski had an impressive save a little over eight minutes into quarter two, successfully deflecting a shot from Middlebury's Emma McNealy.
* One minute and twenty seconds into quarter three, Puchalski blocked a shot from Midd's Megan Fuqua. A little over a minute later, she blocked two successive shots from Midd's offense.
* Despite Puchalski's efforts in quarter three, Midd managed to find a gap in Amherst's defense, putting two points on the board. With twelve minutes on the clock in the third quarter, Puchalski managed another save, sending the Mammoths into quarter four with a two-point disadvantage. After an additional goal in quarter four from Midd the Mammoths walked away with their second loss of the season
