AMHERST, MA. — The #18 Amherst College men's tennis team defeated Connecticut College 7–0 on Sunday at home, closing the regular season at 12–5 overall and 7–3 in the NESCAC. Amherst used a strong doubles start and a steady singles performance to control Senior Day and the 50th Year of Co-Education Celebration from the opening points.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Mammoths took all three doubles matches to grab the early lead, with Andreas Sillaste and Lukas Frangenberg winning comfortably at No. 1, Albert Hu and Ronald Gualario taking No. 2, and George Chaidemenos and Rex Harrison finishing the sweep at No. 3. That doubles momentum set up a quick path to victory.
- Senior captain George Chaidemenos had one of the day's most impressive performances, both in doubles and singles. In singles, he earned the toughest match of the day, rallying from a 1–4 deficit in the first set before pulling away for a 7–5, 6–2 win at No. 2. His composure after the early hole made him a centerpiece of the match and helped Amherst keep the pressure on Connecticut College.
- Amherst also got strong work from Andreas Sillaste, who was sharp at No. 1 singles in a 6–0, 6–1 win, and Rex Harrison, who handled his match at No. 5 in straight sets. Albert Hu finished the day with another straight-set victory at No. 6, while Lukas Frangenberg added a solid win at No. 3 to round out the result.
