Natalie Stott (Franklin, Mass.) and defender
Gretchen Dann (Hanover, N.H.) of Amherst College women's ice hockey were awarded DIII Hockey News First Team: East honors, and forward
Maeve Reynolds (Plymouth, Mass.) was named to the Third Team: East when selections were announced earlier this week.
This is just another award in a long list for all three players this season, with the defensive duo anchoring an Amherst unit that racked up 13 shutouts and conceded only 23 goals in 30 games. Reynolds was the engine of an Amherst attack that put up 72 goals and on the way to a NESCAC Championship and second straight Final Four appearance
Stott gets her nod to the First Team after performing at arguably the highest level of her career. The senior finished the year with a .970 save percentage, .71 goals against average, and 12 shutouts, all of which led the nation. Stott also set two all-time NCAA DIII records this season: she finished her time in Amherst with 45 career shutouts, shattering the old record of 35, and 86 career wins, surpassing the previous mark of 82. Throughout her career, Stott has stopped 2380 shots and accumulated a career save percentage of .960.
Dann has shined on both ends of the ice and capped an impressive season with her DIII News First Team East selection. Dann has always been a standout defender, and that continued this year, as she put up a career high 29 blocked shots. Offensively, she has stepped up her game, putting up 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 total points, a career high. She also put her name in the NCAA and Amherst program record books after with 7 of her goals being game winners, a mark that ranks in the top-10 all-time in DIII and second at Amherst.
Reynolds finishes her career as one of Amherst's most dangerous offensive players, with 12 goals and 20 assists this year to bring her career total to 42 goals and 64 assists. Reynolds was all over the ice this season, finishing second in the NESCAC in total points, leading the conference in face-off wins 371 in 30 games, good for an impressive .592 win percentage.
The Mammoths finished the season at 21-3-6 overall, winning the NESCAC Tournament Championship for the second straight year and making their third trip to the Final Four in the last four seasons.
