#11 MAMMOTHS BESTED BY #4 DENISON, 6-1

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The #11 Amherst College men's tennis team fell 6–1 to #4 Denison, the defending national champions on Wednesday at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center, closing out their spring break trip at 4–3 overall, 2-1 for the trip. The Mammoths came in riding back-to-back wins over Wesleyan and NC Wesleyan and hoped to extend their unbeaten run at Hilton Head, but Denison proved too consistent, winning in the decisive moments throughout doubles and winning on five of six singles courts.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Lukas Frangenberg and Andreas Sillaste gave Amherst a promising start, taking the #1 doubles point with a sharp 6–4 win over Kael Shah and Ethan Green. Denison then responded by winning courts 2 and 3, taking the doubles point and the momentum into singles. 
  • Lukas Frangenberg delivered Amherst's only singles point at #3 in a tough three-setter, winning 6–1, 1–6, 6–4 against Andreas Chapides after being pushed to a deciding set.

UP NEXT
With the spring break trip now complete, Amherst returns home and will face Trinity College on Saturday, March 28 at noon at the Paul Assaiante Tennis Center in Hartford, CT. The Mammoths will look to regroup and build on the individual highlights from the trip as NESCAC season heats up.
