AMHERST, Mass. — Amherst College middle distance runner Ben Davis has been selected as an Academic All-American. Davis was named to the 2025 Academic All-America Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team for Division III by College Sports Communicators.

Davis is the 50th Academic All-America selection in Amherst history dating back to 1982. He earned Amherst's seventh all-time selection to the men's track & field/cross country team and first since Spencer Ferguson-Dryden '20 in 2020.

The New York native just completed his junior year with a 3.98 GPA while majoring in neuroscience. Davis earned First Team All-America honors in two events at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships this winter, finishing fifth in the 800m and fourth with Amherst's distance medley relay team. He also won the 600m and posted two other top-eight finishes at the New England Division III Indoor Championships to help the Mammoths win the team title. Davis was part of the 4x400m relay team that set an Amherst school record during the outdoor season at the Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza and was an All-Region selection in four events this year.

The Academic All-America teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field of play and in the classroom. The teams are selected from Academic All-District honorees by the membership of College Sports Communicators, with teams named in 14 sports and at-large teams that cover sports not represented by their own team. This year's Division III men's track & field/cross country teams feature 46 student-athletes. Davis is the only NESCAC athlete on the first or second teams.
