Stan Craig broke the school record in the 5000m as the Amherst College men's track and field team competed on the second day of the Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza on Saturday.
Select individuals will compete at the MIT Final Qualifier to secure final qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* The Mammoth 4x400m team posted a runner-up finish of 3:12.77, surpassing the previous record of 3:14.83 set by Andrew Reed '12, Tommy Moore '11, Matt Melton '14, and Ben Sheetz '12 in 2011.
* Sophomore
Stan Craig placed third in a field of 51 finishers in the 5000m, breaking the record by over seven seconds delivering a time of 14:12.35. This beats the previous record of 14:19.49 set by junior
Henry Dennen in 2024.
* First-year
Gavin Schmidt won the discus throwing a mark of 48.37 while senior
David Brown placed third with a throw of 45.94.
* Junior
Charlie Spurrell won the hammer producing distance of 54.40m.
* First-year
Austin Brown placed as the top Mammoth in the 1500m, placing 15th in a field of 63 crossing the line in 3:54.86.
* The Amherst 4x100m relay team of Tanyi-Tang, Pierce, first-year
Will Diana, and senior
Jordan Harrison finished third with a time of 41.62.
* Tanyi-Tang placed eighth in the 400m posting a time of 49.49.
* In the 3000m steeplechase, sophomore
Harrison Talcott recorded a time of 9:33.25 to finish ninth overall.
* In the pole vault, sophomore
Alec Kuzyk posted a mark of 4.54m placing seventh.
