PHILADELPHIA – Three student-athletes from the Amherst College women's squash team have been named Scholar-Athletes by the College Squash Association (CSA). Both seniors on this year's team,
Tanmai Pathak (New Delhi, India) and
Isabelle Tilney-Sandberg (Princeton, NJ), and junior
Alex Brown (Victoria, BC) each earned the honor this season.
The CSA Scholar-Athlete Award is awarded to juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 who have played for at least two seasons and played in a top-10 ladder position for the majority of matches this season.
Pathak is a double major in computer science and physics and a repeat selection as CSA Scholar-Athlete. She posted a record of 13-7 from the top of the ladder and earned First Team All-NESCAC honors.
Tilney-Sandberg is a double major in economics and Spanish. She went 11-8 this season playing mostly at the eighth and ninth spots in the ladder, but amassed a 4-0 record when playing in the fifth and sixth positions.
Brown is a double major in English and film & media studies. She posted a record of 14-5 this season playing mostly at the third position. Brown earned Second Team All-NESCAC honors and was also selected to the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship team this season.
The Mammoths went 17-6 this season and finished the season ranked 14th in the nation.
