AMHERST, Mass. -- Held to only five hits in a game one loss Sunday, the Amherst College baseball team reversed its fate in the nightcap of the twinbill, knocking out 11 hits in an 11-2 win over Ramapo College and gaining a split on the Roadrunners' Jeff Maund Field.
Jack Boyle,
Ryan McIntyre and
Aiden Dubetsky each had two hits in the win for Amherst, which had 11 hits total in the victory, which evend the Mammoths' record at 2-2. Ramapo moved to 4-2 with the game two loss.
The Mammoths are back in action Thursday when they hit the road once again to take on Clark University at 4 p.m.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS:
* Amherst took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when
Jack Sampedro reached on a forceot and stole second with two outs. McIntyre came through with an RBI-single to center field to plate the run.
* The Mammoths built that lead to 4-0 with three runs in the third.
Jack McDermott worked a one-out walk and with two outs, McIntyre also received a free pass.
Charlie LaFreniere came through with a line shot to right center which scored McDermott for a 2-0 lead. First-year
Justin Orridge then smacked a two-run double down the right-field line for the four-run advantage.
* Ramapo got one run back when Jesse Swarthout homered in the bottom of the third, but that was all the Roadrunners could muster off Amherst starter
Nick Fassert over six solid innings. Fassert, a first-year, gave up four hits and did not walk a batter while fanning one to earn his first collegiate victory.
E.J. Nevills earned his first save by tossing three innings of two-hit relief and allowng one run while walking two and striking out five.
* The Mammoths put the game away with a run in the seventh, two in the eighth and four more in the ninth to account for the 11-2 win. Dubetsky had a run-scoring double in the eighth and then lined a two-run triple in the ninth to finish 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs in the win.
GAME 1:
* The Mammoths bats were kept quiet by Ramapo starter James Pazdera, who threw six no-hit innings before being removed from the game.
*
Tyler McCord went 2 for 4 with two doubles in the loss and
Ben Smith went 1 for 3 with an RBI single.

Tristan Kim took the loss, allowing one run over two innings of work.
