MEDFORD, Mass. -- Sophomore
Alec Kuzyk surpassed his program record in the pole vault as select individuals from the Amherst College men's track and field team competed at the Tufts National Qualifier on Saturday.
The top 20 individuals and top 12 relays will qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships which are held on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 in Rochester, N.Y. The final rankings will be determined upon the conclusion of this weekend's last chance meets.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Kuzyk finished second in the pole vault, recording a mark of 4.76m which bests his school record of 4.75m that was established earlier this season.
* After winning the 200m yesterday at the NEICAAA Championships, earning All-NEICAAA honors and finishing as the NEICAAA Indoor Champion,
Cody Pierce crossed the line with a winning time of 21.83.
* Junior
Will Nagy posted a season best time of 1:56.38 in the 800m.
* Sophomore
Jacob Connolly registered a five-second personal best in the mile, producing a time of 4:15.31 while classmate
Stan Craig also posted a personal best of 4:16.19.
* First-year
Gavin Schmidt won the shot put, delivering a mark of 15.98m.
* In the weight throw, junior
Charlie Spurrell won the event throwing a distance of 16.51m.
* The distance medley relay of senior
Nick Edwards-Levin, Pierce, junior
Ben Davis, and sophomore
Parker Boyle placed second overall, finishing in 9:52.27 and posted a Division III top-10 mark this season.
