BOSTON -- Sophomore Héloïse Hughes finished third in the preliminary round of the 200m, competing as the sole representative from the Amherst College women's track and field team on the first day of the NEICAAA Indoor Championships on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The championship meet includes athletes who qualified from all three NCAA divisions and awards All-NEICAAA honors to the top three finishers in each event. 

Hughes registered a time of 25.14 in the preliminary round of the 200m, placing third in a field of 22 athletes and finishing as the top Division III runner. Hughes' third-place finish qualifies the sophomore for the 200m final that will be held tomorrow at 12:55 pm.
