BOSTON -- Junior Cody Pierce won the preliminary round of the 200m, competing as the Amherst College men's track and field team's only athlete on the first day of the NEICAAA Indoor Championships on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The championship meet includes athletes who qualified from all three NCAA divisions and the top three finishers of each event are awarded All-NEICAAA honors. 

In a field of 26 athletes, Pierce crossed the line with a winning time of 21.85 in the preliminary round of the 200m, advancing to the finals that will be held tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
