MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Charlie Spurrell won the hammer throw as the throwers from the Amherst College men's track and field team opened the outdoor season at the Swanson Spring Classic hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday.
Amherst will resume competition on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at the Black and Golf Invitational hosted by Bryant University.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

Gavin Schmidt placed second overall in the discus, throwing a mark of 46.20m.
* Spurrell won the hammer throw delivering a distance of 54.18m.
