#13 Amherst Opens Doubleheader with 7-0 Sweep Over Whitman

CLAREMONT, CA – The #13 Amherst College men's tennis team dominated Whitman College in the first match of their doubleheader, securing a 7-0 sweep at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center on Wednesday morning
before carrying that momentum into singles, where Edred Opie, Aldiyar Abzhan, George Chaidemenos, Spencer Leung, Albert Hu, and Ethan Ohm all won in straight sets.

Up Next: With the win, Amherst improves to 6-1 on the season (2-1 versus NESCAC teams) and will look to win both matches of today's doubleheader this evening as they take on #20 University of Redlands at 5 PM PDT at the Coach Jim Verdieck Tennis Center in Redlands, CA.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Mammoths set the tone early by sweeping the doubles matches
  • Junior George Chaidemenos remains unbeaten for the season, winning his second match convincingly at the #3 spot with a score of 6-3, 6-1.
  • First-year Ethan Ohm completed the sweep at #6 singles, grinding out a tight second set tiebreak in his 6-4, 7-6 victory.
