BOSTON -- The Mammoths established a new school record in the 200 meter dash as the Amherst College women's track and field team scored 73 points to place fourth in the 2025 New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Track at New Balance.
Héloïse Hughes broke the school record in the 200 meter dash, taking home a fourth place finish with a time of 24.73. Hughes' performance in the 200 surpasses Naomi Bates '14 who ran 24.82 in 2014. Piper Lentz, Arissa Grace McGowan, and Hannah Stephenson earned third place finishes, scoring pivotal points for the Mammoths.Â
The Mammoths will be back in action next weekend for the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday, March 8th in Medford, Mass.Â
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Anaya Thomas scored two points for the Mammoths with her seventh place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.17 meters. Thomas doubled in the high jump to score once again, placing eighth and earning a point. She also placed seventh in the pentathlon.Â
* Arissa Grace McGowan and Myeh Medina both scored in the 60 meter hurdles. McGowan ran a time of 9.09 to place third while Medina ran a time of 9.17 to place sixth. The two scorers earned six and three points, respectively.
* Hughes scored three points in the 60 meter dash, taking home a fifth place finish.
* Flora Biro scored two points for the Mammoths in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:06.17.Â
* Piper Lentz and Zoë Marcus each scored in the 800 meter run. Lentz placed third with a time of 2:12.67 while Marcus placed seventh with a time of 2:17.06.
* Hannah Stephenson placed third in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:47.11.
