BOSTON -- The Mammoths won a New England title in the 200 meter dash as the Amherst College men's track and field team scored 109 points to win the 2025 New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships for the first time in program history on Saturday at the Track at New Balance.
Junior Cody Pierce won a New England title in the 200 meter dash, setting a school record. Charlie Spurrell and Alec Kuzyk each took home second place finishes in the men's weight throw and pole vault, respectively.Â
The Mammoths will be back in action next weekend for the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday, March 8th in Medford, Mass.Â
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Pierce won the 200 meter dash in a time of 21.57 to bring home 10 points for the Mammoths and break his own school record time of 21.75 that was set earlier this year. Pierce doubled in the 400 meter dash to score once again, placing fifth with a time of 48.48.
* Michael Abbey Jr. placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.74 meters, bringing home five points for the Mammoths.Â
* Â Spurrell earned a mark of 17.30 meters in the weight throw, missing out on first place by only 0.08 meters. Spurrell took home eight points for the Mammoths with his throw.Â
* Kuzyk was Amherst's top performer in the pole vault, taking home a second place finish with a mark of 4.74 meters.Â
* Jordan Harrison earned a third place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.89.
* Parker Boyle threw down a time of 4:12.91 in the mile, bringing home a critical five points for the Mammoths with his fourth place finish.
* Ben Davis earned a fifth place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:15.32, scoring four points.Â
* Stan Craig ran a personal best time of 8:22.36 to place fourth and score five points for the Mammoths in the 3000 meter run.
* The men's 4x800 meter relay, consisting of Finn O'Hara, Will Nagy, Gent Malushaga, and Boyle earned a third place finish in a time of 7:46.60 to score six points for the Mammoths.Â
