NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Amherst College women's cross country team showed a strong presence at the NESCAC Championships Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park, placing 5th with multiple athletes finishing in the top 100 and demonstrating consistent pacing throughout the race.

Leading the Amherst pack was Flora Biro, a sophomore, who finished 11th overall with a time of 21:33.5. Biro maintained a steady rhythm across all splits, notably moving through the 4.8k mark in 17:10.39, a strong indicator of her endurance and strategic pacing.

Close behind was Katie Greenwald, a freshman, finishing 23rd in 22:12.6. Greenwald's first 1.65k split of 6:08.57 suggested a conservative start, but she steadily gained ground, highlighting her potential as a rising talent for Amherst.

Other notable Amherst performances included Paige Lentz (50th, 23:04.3), Ava Thomas (33rd, 22:30.2), Dani Perez-Cartaya (65th, 23:08.0), Adhikari Hannah (90th, 23:42.0), and Levine Maya (70th, 23:15.6). Each of these runners showed a mix of consistent pacing and strong finishes, contributing to Amherst's depth and team scoring potential.

Overall, Amherst's women displayed a combination of experienced upperclassmen and promising underclassmen, strategically distributing their effort across the 6k course. Their performances signal a competitive team presence, with several runners poised to challenge for higher placements in upcoming meets.
