#16 Mammoths Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Distinction

AMHERST, MA. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has released its Cross Country All-Academic teams and athletes for the 2025 season, and five Mammoths, as well as the team as a whole, were recognized. This year's honorees are sophomore Flora Biro, junior Nikki Chopra, first-year Katie Greenwald, sophomore Audrey Seeger, and sophomore Ava Thomas.
 
To qualify for All-Academic Distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 precent of their respective regional championship meet.
 
Biro, a geology and political science double major, was a consistent top performer for the Mammoths once again in 2025 – she was the Mammoths' top finisher at NCAAs in November, crossing in the line in 65th to pace the team, and earned all-region honors with a 15th place showing at Mideast Regionals.
 
Chopra, a neuroscience major, garnered an All-Region selection with a 20th place finish at Regionals to help lift the Mammoths to a top-4 finish, as well as
 
Greenwald, an undeclared major, burst onto the scene in a big way, scoring in most of Amherst's races and crossing the line 23rd at NESSCACs and 17th at Regionals to earn All-Region honors. She also scored for the team at NCAAs, with her time putting her as the 12th fastest first-year in the nation.
 
Seeger, a history and political science double major, was one of the team's anchors, consistently finishing in the team's top five runners and putting down solid races. Her standout performance was a 46th place finish at regionals, which she sealed by advancing 16 spots in just over 500m of the course.
 
Thomas, an undeclared major, was a constant on the scorecard all season, earning All-Region honors with a 31st place finish, as well as a 33rd place finish at Regionals. She also finished just outside the top 100 at NCAAs, coming in 109th of over 400 runners.
 
The team also garnered an All-Academic selection, with their dedication in the classroom earning them a 3.73 cumulative GPA. To qualify for All-Academic Distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.10 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
 
Amherst finished the 2025 season with a 5th place finish at NESCACs, 4th place result at NCAA Mideast Regionals and qualified for the NCAA Championships as a team. They finished 16th nationally at the race in Spartansburg, S.C.
