ROME, GA. — Two weeks ago, Andreas Sillaste from Amherst College men's tennis team qualified for the ITA Cup by making it to the finals of the New England regional tournament.

The ITA Cup is being held at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia from October 16-19. Sixteen players, winners and finalists of their regions from all over the nation came together to compete in the 4-day tournament.

Sillaste ended up with a 2-1 record for the weekend. He lost in the opening round of the tournament to Gage Gohl of Gustavus Adolphus. Gage Gohl won the 2024 DIII NCAA Doubles championship with his partner, Marco Siviero. Because of the loss in the first round, Sillaste competed in the West draw for the rest of the weekend. With a win over Trinity University's Kishan Kersten on Friday, Sillaste set up a Saturday morning match against Emory University's Dean Kamenev, whom he beat in the spring of 2024 in a dual match. Sillaste wrapped up his ITA Cup on Saturday with his second win over Dean Kamenev in a three-set battle.
