MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Seven Mammoths qualified for the New England Division III Championships as the Amherst College men's track and field team competed at the Middlebury Winter Invitational on Saturday.
Amherst will resume competition at the Middlebury Small College Invitational hosted at the TRACK at new balance on Sunday, January 26 at 9 am.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* First-year
Christoph Osselmann-Chai opened his collegiate debut in the 60m hurdles recording a time of 8.77 seconds.
* Junior
Charlie Spurrell won the weight throw registering a New England Division III Championship qualifying mark of 15.35m while senior
David Brown posted a season best and qualifying mark of 14.37m which was good for fifth place.
* In the shot put, Brown finished second recording a season best of 14.43m while first-year
Gavin Schmidt placed fourth with a mark of 14.05m and sophomore
Jacob Shine recorded a season best of 13.60m. All three marks met the New England qualifying standard.
* Sophomore
Kaleb Barrett placed third in the long jump with a New England qualifying mark of 6.55m while first-year
Matt Kasper placed sixth with a jump of 6.28m.
* In the pole vault, sophomore
Alec Kuzyk delivered a mark of 4.30m tying for second while first-year
Christoph Osselmann-Chai qualified for the New England Championships with a mark of 4.30m which was good for fourth.
