STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Amherst College women's track and field team delivered victories in three events to lead the Mammoths to the team victory at the NYC Gotham Cup hosted by the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Friday afternoon.
The Mammoths won the team victory with 10 points while American University finished as the runner up with eight points and Wesleyan finished in third with six points.
Amherst returns to action tomorrow at the Middlebury Winter Invitational at 9 am.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Junior
Allison Lounsbury finished third in the 5000m clocking in a time of 18:45.07.
* Sophomore
Camilla Lash tied for sixth overall in the 60m, finishing in 8.26 while also posting a time of 26.59 in the 200m
* In the 400m, first-year
Leila Bata ran a time of 1:02.32 to finish as the top Mammoth in the field.
* Senior
Julia Schor placed second in the mile, producing a New England Division III qualifying time of 5:07.43 while first-year Dani Perez Cartaya finished in 5:20.70.
* Junior
Piper Lentz finished as the runner up in the 1000m recording a time of 3:00.29 while senior
Sylvan Wold placed third in 3:00.55 and first-year
Hannah Adhikari placed fifth 3:01.72. All three Mammoths recorded New England qualifying standards.
* First-year
Hannah Stephenson delivered her first collegiate victory in the 3000m, posting a New England qualifying time of 9:59.46 while classmate
Flora Biro finished fourth overall in 10:05.48, also qualifying for the New England Championship meet.
* The 4 x 800m relay team of Adhikari, Lentz,
Audrey Seeger, and
Isabella Lozier claimed the victory posting a winning time of 9:36.17, finishing over 13 seconds ahead of second place.
* In the distance medley relay, the team of Schor,
Leila Bata,
Maya Levine, and Wold claimed the overall victory recording a time of 12:38.62.
