AUSTIN, Texas – Three student-athletes from the Amherst College men's tennis team have been named to the 2024 Academic All-District Men's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
Juniors
Sujit Chepuri,
Kobe Ellenbogen and
Edred Opie were each honored for the second straight season.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 and have played in 70 percent of their team's dual matches to be eligible.
Chepuri is a biochemistry & biophysics major from Minneapolis. He posted an 11-4 record in singles this season, including a seven-match winning streak to open the dual meet season, and went 12-11 in doubles.
Ellenbogen is an economics major from Ridgewood, New Jersey. He earned All-NESCAC First Team honors for his doubles play alongside first-year
Andreas Sillaste, as the pair went 17-7 on the season, including an eight-match winning streak to open the dual meet season. Ellenbogen also posted a 13-6 record in singles play.
Opie is a double major in economics and mathematics from Chippenham, England. He went 11-4 in singles play at the second singles position and posted an 8-8 mark in doubles action.
The Mammoths finished 12-6 in dual meets this season, the team's 19th straight season with a winning record.
