#21 Amherst down #5 Bowdoin 5-4 to continue perfect NESCAC record

BRUNSWICK, ME – On Sunday afternoon, the #21 Amherst College men's tennis team enjoyed a successful weekend trip to Maine with two wins versus NESCAC opposition. Today, the Mammoths beat the #5 Bowdoin College Polar Bears with a score of 5-4. The match took place on the Polar Bears' home indoor courts at the Maine Pines Racquet and Fitness Center.

Amherst's season record improves to 10-2 (5-0 in NESCAC). Up next: after playing away this weekend, the Mammoths will now look to improve their perfect home record (that currently stands at 5-0) in their next three matches in western Massachusetts. On Thursday afternoon, Amherst will take on the #40 Trinity College (Connecticut) Bantams at 3:30pm on the Mammoths' outdoor courts (if the weather permits).

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • With success at the #1 and #3 doubles spots, Amherst took two of the doubles to head into the singles with a 2-1 overall lead.
  • Senior Marshall Leung and First-year Rex Harrison gave Amherst two singles wins at the #4 and #5 spots respectively.
  • Junior Kobe Ellenbogen clinched the overall match with his singles victory at the #3 singles spot, making it four wins in four matches for him this weekend.
