JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Three Mammoths shot scores of 75 on Saturday at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, boosting the Amherst College women's golf team into a tie for third place entering the final day of the three-round tournament on the par-72 Indian Mound Course at Jekyll Island Golf Club.
The reigning NESCAC champion Mammoths, ranked 11th in the nation in the latest WGCA Division III poll and 12th in the Clippd rankings, shot a team score of 303 (+15), an 11-stroke improvement over Friday's opening round, and are now tied for third with Redlands in the field of 18 teams. With a two-round score of 617 (+41), the Mammoths are just seven strokes shy of first-place Wellesley, who sit one stroke ahead of second-place Williams.

Annabelle Chen each carded a 3-over 75 in the second round. That score is a collegiate best for Haight and moves her into a tie for eighth place on the individual leaderboard with an 8-over 152 through two rounds. Williams sophomore Euna Lee, DePauw sophomore Becky Williams and Redlands senior Andrea York are tied for the lead with a 5-over 149.
Huang and Chen are tied for 12th place after shooting matching scores in each round of the tournament, improving by four strokes in the second round to enter the final day with a 10-over 154.
First-year
Abigail Kim improved by two strokes from her opening round to shoot a 6-over 78 and sit in a tie for 30th place at 158 (+14).
The tournament concludes on Sunday (March 24) at 8 a.m. The Mammoths are paired with leaders Wellesley and Williams and will be in the first groups off the first tee in the morning. Each of the three teams in the group leads the tournament on a different set of holes. Williams has the tournament's best score on par 3s, Amherst leads on par 4s and Wellesley leads on par 5s.
