#19 Amherst fall at home to #9 Cornell, 9-0

AMHERST, MA — On Sunday afternoon, the #19 Amherst College men's squash team played its sixth match of its 2024 season and the first versus opponents ranked in the top 10 teams in the country, the #9 Cornell University Big Red. The Big Red entered the match with a 3-0 season record and their confidence was evident as they beat Amherst with a score of 9-0. 

Up Next:
Amherst's record now stands at 4-2 (2-0 in NESCAC play). The next match will not take place until next year. The Mammoths will return to NESCAC competition on Wednesday, January 8, versus the #24 Bowdoin College Polar Bears. This home match will begin at 11am and take place on the Davenport Squash Courts.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Juniors Jesse Brew and Grady Herbert both showed promise as they won the first sets in their matches at the #8 and #9 spots, respectively.
  • The Big Red won the remainder of the matches in straight sets.
  • Herbert's flawless 4-0 season record came to an end versus Roman Bicknell of Cornell
