AMHERST, Mass. -- Five Mammoths qualified for the New England Division III Championships as the Amherst College men's track and field team opened the 2024-25 season split between the Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University and the Wesleyan Winter Invitational on Saturday.
The Mammoths return to action in 2025 as they compete in the Middlebury Winter Invitational on Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18.
COLYEAR-DANVILLE HIGHLIGHTS:
* Senior
Gent Malushaga represented the Mammoths in the mile notching a time of 4:21.67.
* Junior
Ben Davis finished as the top Division III finisher in the field in the 800m, placing seventh overall and registering a New England Division III Championship qualifying time of 1:52.92.
* In the 3000m, all three Mammoth finishers qualified for the New England Championship as junior
Henry Dennen led Amherst clocking in a time of 8:18.60 while sophomore
Parker Boyle posted a time of 8:30.94 and senior Nick Edwards-Levin crossed the line in 8:33.20.
* Sophomore
Jacob Shine placed fourth overall in the shot put producing a distance of 13.32m while senior
David Brown finished fifth with a mark of 12.94m.
WESLEYAN HIGHLIGHTS:
* Rookie Ben Kasen placed fourth overall in the 5000m posting a time of 15:18.45 while junior
Drew Stephens finished in fifth recording a time of 15:19.25.
* Senior
Camden Heafitz finished as the runner up in the high jump registering a mark of 1.85m.
* Sophomore
Alec Kuzyk placed second overall in the pole vault with a New England Division III qualifying mark of 4.30m while rookie Christopher Osselmann-Chai opened his collegiate debut producing a mark of 4.15m which was good for third place.
