GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* Despite a first quarter in which tey had an 8-0 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in penalty corners, the Mammoths and Owls found themselves in a scoreless tie after one quarter of play Tuesday.
* It would be the Owls who got on board first when Grace Seabury took a nice cross from Grace Bazin and directed it behind Amherst keeper
Sara Nidus.
* That seemed to awaken the Mammoths even more, as they scored the game's next seven goals. Only 51 seconds after the Owls got on the board, Amherst junior
Paige DiBiase tied the game with her second goal of the season, tapping home a shot after Maynard had dribbled into the circle from the left side down to the end line and flicked a ball back in front of the goal, where DiBiase was in the right place at the right time.
* DiBiase's tally was the first of the Mammoths' five goals in a 10-minute, 15-second span that saw them build a 5-1 lead by the half. Mazambani had a hat trick by halftime, scoring three of the four Mammoth goals. Her tally with 5:51 remaining in the quarter gave Amherst a lead it would not relinquish.
* It was Maynard's turn in the third quarter as she scored the first two goals of the frame to net herself a hat trick and extend the Mammoths lead to 7-1.
* First-year
Genevieve Caruso scored her second goal of the season and junior defender
Kate Smith capped the night's scoring with her first collegiate goal.
BY THE NUMBERS:
* Amherst finished with a 33-4 advantage in total shots. They had 18 penalty corners in the game compared to 2 for Keene State.
