SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – First-year Jordan Harrison of the Amherst College men's track and field team smashed the Amherst school record in the 100m dash as he won the event to highlight action for the Mammoths on the final day of the New England Division III Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Springfield College.

The Mammoths posted seven more All-New England performances on Saturday and finished fourth as a team out of the 44 institutions competing with 53.5 points, matching Amherst's best-ever finish at the meet from 1983. MIT won its eighth consecutive championship with 143 points.

Next weekend the Mammoths will take on the best of New England from all three NCAA divisions at the NEICAAA Championships on Friday (May 12) and Saturday (May 13) at Northeastern University's Solomon Track in Dedham.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

* After setting a school record in yesterday's prelims with a time of 10.71 seconds, Harrison broke it again with an impressive new mark, winning the championship in 10.55 seconds to edge UMass Dartmouth first-year Flordan Bazile and Springfield junior Evan Weber, who were one and two hundredths of a second behind, respectively. Harrison's time ranks in the top 20 nationally in Division III this season.
