ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior Mary Kate McGranahan of the Amherst College women's track and field team will race for a national championship in the 3000m steeplechase after advancing from Thursday's preliminaries at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at St. John Fisher University's Polisseni Track and Field.

McGranahan ran a personal-best time of 10:31.55 to finish second in her heat and claim a spot as one of 12 finalists who will race for a national championship on Saturday (May 27) at 12:45 p.m. The top eight finishers in the final will earn All-America honors.

Junior Carolina Andrade made her NCAA Championship debut and finished 20th in the javelin with a throw of 34.43m.

Sophomore Eliza Cardwell competed in the prelims of the 400m hurdles, but was disqualified for hooking a hurdle, an infraction where the hurdler's leg swings around rather than over the hurdle. Cardwell will compete again in the prelims of the 100m hurdles on Friday (May 26) at 5:15 p.m.
