MEDFORD, Mass. – A small contingent from the Amherst College women's track and field team competed in the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday on the flat track at the Gantcher Center.

The meet served as a final qualifier for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, which will be held March 10-11 in Birmingham, Alabama. The top 20 athletes nationwide in each individual event and the top 12 teams in each relay event will earn berths in the national championships with selections announced tomorrow (Sunday, March 5) at 7 p.m.

As results trickle in from the final day of competition, sophomore Eliza Cardwell is in the best position amongst the Mammoths, currently sitting at 17th in the nation in the 60m hurdles.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

* Cardwell, first-year Myeh Medina, junior Trintje Nydam and sophomore Casie Eifrig competed in the 4x400m relay, finishing second with a time of 3:56.72.

* Sophomore Anaya Thomas recorded a personal-best mark of 11.19m in the triple jump to finish third. First-year Anastasia Ioppolo was sixth with a mark of 10.39m.

* Senior Mary Kate McGranahan finished fifth in the 5000m with a time of 17:29.06.
