BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior
Kolya Markov-Riss of the Amherst College men's track and field team finished 12th in the nation in the 800m with his run today at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Markov-Riss ran a time of 1:52.63 in the preliminaries to finish fourth in his heat and 12th overall in his debut appearance at indoor nationals. Markov-Riss was the only NESCAC runner to qualify for nationals in the 800m.
Only the top eight finishers in the preliminaries advance to tomorrow's finals, so Markov-Riss and the Mammoths now shift their focus to the outdoor season, which begins April 1 at Bryant University's Black & Gold Invitational.
