BOSTON – The Mammoths 4x800m relay team won the New England Championship as the Amherst College women's track and field team finished fifth at the New England Division III Indoor Championships after the final day of action on Saturday at the Track at New Balance.
The Mammoths finished with 59 points to claim fifth place out of 41 teams at the meet. Williams won its fifth straight team championship with 127.33 points.
All-New England honors are awarded to the top eight finishers in each event and the Mammoths posted 8 All-New England marks today for a total of 12 in the meet.
The Mammoths are back in action next Saturday (March 4), competing in the Tufts National Qualifying Meet for one last chance to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

Piper Lentz formed the winning quartet in the 4x800m relay, finishing in 9:28.41, one second ahead of second-place WPI with Amherst's best time of the season.
* Lentz also earned All-New England honors on her own in the 800m with a seventh-place finish, clocking a time of 2:19.30.

Eliza Cardwell repeated All-New England honors in the 60m hurdles, finishing second with a time of 8.79 seconds, improving her season-best time that already ranked in the top 20 nationwide in Division III. First-year
Anastasia Ioppolo also earned All-New England honors with her seventh-place finish.

Trintje Nydam and sophomore
Casie Eifrig to claim fourth place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:56.70.
* Ioppolo also earned All-New England honors in the triple jump, finishing fifth with a season-best mark of 11.35m.

Mary Kate McGranahan matched that performance in the 3000m today, clocking a personal-best time of 9:57.38.

Sylvan Wold picked up her second All-New England award in as many days with a fifth-place finish in the 1000m, posting a time of 3:00.20 after anchoring the distance medley relay team to a third-place finish yesterday.
