The Amherst College women's track and field team competed across New England on Saturday, winning three events at the Middlebury Field and Track Meet while setting a season-best time in the distance medley relay at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
The Mammoths will return to action next Saturday (Feb. 18), competing in the Triangle Classic at Springfield College beginning at 10:30 a.m.
HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:
* The Mammoths posted their best time of the season in the distance medley relay as first-year
Bella Lozier, sophomore
Casie Eifrig, first-year
Piper Lentz and sophomore
Sylvan Wold clocked a time of 12:10.70. The time was good for 27th out of 49 teams from all three NCAA divisions and beyond. Division I UCLA won the event.
MIDDLEBURY FIELD & TRACK MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Sophomore
Jordan Hecker won the pole vault, leading a strong contingent of Mammoths. Hecker was the only competitor to clear 3.25m. Junior
Mia Bawendi was second and sophomore
Eve Giancarlo was fourth, each with a mark of 3.15m.
* First-year
Daphne Theiler won the 5000m with a time of 18:38.41 for her first collegiate win.
* Sophomore
Anaya Thomas won the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.52m for her first collegiate high jump win.
