BOSTON – The Amherst College men's track and field team kicked off action at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational with a season-best performance in the distance medley relay on Friday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Henry Dennen clocked a time of 10:07.94 to win their heat and place 17th overall in an event that was won by Division I Monmouth. The Amherst quartet's time ranks among the top 20 in Division III this season.
The distance medley relay was the only men's event contested on Friday in a meet that features over 100 teams from all three NCAA divisions and beyond. The rest of the men's events will take place on Saturday (Feb. 11), beginning at 9 a.m.
The Mammoths will also be competing tomorrow in the Middlebury Field and Track Meet beginning at 11 a.m.
