#2 Mammoths come-from-behind to sweep #5 Hamilton 2-1

CLINTON, NY –  Natalie Stott made 23 saves as a strong defensive effort helped the Mammoths rally from behind Sunday afternoon to defeat the Continentals 2-1 and complete a weekend sweep at Sage Rink.

The 2nd-ranked Mammoths improve to 2-0-0 with the win, while the fifth-ranked Continentals fall to 0-2-0. Amherst is at the University of Massachusetts-Boston on Saturday, November 25 for a 4 p.m. puck drop.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

* The Mammoths started the game off strong with a series of three shots in a row by the likes of Rylee Glennon and Emily Hohmann. With 15:30 left Glennon tried to find Maeve Reynolds in front of the Continentals' goal but the puck was pushed too far.

* With 2:32 left in the first period Grace Crowley, in the middle of a scrum, took a shot right in front of the goal, which was saved by  Stott. Stott kept the game scoreless for the remainder of the period saving shots from both Bobbi Roca and Claire McGennis.

* With 11:12 left in the second period,  the Continentals scored on a power play goal. A minute and 50 seconds into the power play, Bobbi Roca shot high left, resulting in a save by Stott and the puck deflecting into the front of the goal. Roca found the puck again and this time found the back of the net through a low right shot.

* Just over two minutes later,  the Continentals came just short of a second goal. Ava Romano shot high left and Stott slid to make the save, deflecting the puck to her right. Romano almost got the rebound but the puck slid past the goal.

* With 1:20 left in the second period Alyssa Xu found the puck behind the net and made a perfect pass to Glennon in front of the goal, Glennon took two touches and found the back of the net tying the score.

*  Only 11:09 into the third period Xu and Reynolds skate down the ice on a 2-on1  break. Xu passed the puck across the goal allowing Reynolds to one time the puck into the bottom left corner giving the Mammoths the lead over the Continentals.

* With 6.7 seconds left in the game Stott blocked and covered a shot by Lisa Ito-Bagshaw, stopping the Continentals' last efforts and resulting in a Mammoth win.
