MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Junior
Kolya Markov-Riss and sophomore
David Brown each won events as the Amherst College men's track and field team competed at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday at Virtue Field House.
Team scores were not tallied in the meet, which featured athletes from 12 institutions representing all three NCAA divisions and Canada.
The Mammoths are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 29, traveling to Boston to compete in Middlebury's New England Small College Invitational at the Track at New Balance.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Markov-Riss won the 1000m with a time of 2:31.69, qualifying for the New England Division III Championships in the event after qualifying in the 800m last week. First-year
Ben Davis also qualified for New Englands, finishing third with a time of 2:33.55.
* Brown won the shot put for the second week in a row with a throw of 13.94m.
* Sophomores
Nick Edwards-Levin (4:26.23) and
Gent Malushaga (4:26.27) qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the mile, finishing 9th and 10th, respectively.
